Although the LD-1x manual provides suitable instructions, we may rivet your attention on important settings. Basically the very important hints of the manual LD-1x regarding the distance and speed calibration are valid for the use of all braking distance systems. Without these measures no multiple unit can succeed.
It is possible without difficulties that a pushing locomotive at the hands of the locomotive moving in front is stopped synchronically in the braking distance. Due to the reason that the pushing locomotive receives all driving commands exclusively from the train-leading locomotive, it makes no difference whether the pushing locomotive is located in the braking distance or not. So that the train-leading locomotive can transmit correct driving commands to the pushing locomotive, it is important beside the above mentioned settings that the CV2 especially of the train-leading locomotive is set in such a way, that the train-leading locomotive moves without jerking. In particular she may not stop and "hum" only.
If you are using 3-conductor braking distances the distance (CV101 following) has to be set in such a way that the train-leading locomotive comes to halt before the current batch segment starts.
We are often asked in connection with braking distances whether also a control car coming in the braking distance can transmit the brake commands to the locomotive. This is currently only possible if in the driving trailer a locomotive decoder LD-1x is obstructed. Currently the decoder WD-PWxxx is not able to do this! If a LD-1x is inserted in the driving trailer as a decoder, the CV 66 of the LD-1x in the driving trailer needs to be adjusted (from SW version V2.6) on engine model "C sine". Then the driving trailer has to be selected as a train-leading vehicle and transmits his driving information to all LD-1x in the train set. A strip light in the control car can be controlled by the LD-1x as well.
Last but not least we want to point out, that the LD-1x in the control car needs a rail connection.
T4T - Support
By TCCS various specific features arise for the users of braking distances (Märklin, Lenz, DC), so that also pushing operation etc. is possible in braking distances.
